Summary:
Internship for undergraduate students studying business, finance or a related field, supporting projects and operations for Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger Clinic Finance, and Treasury Operations
MAJOR DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
The intern will participate in the following:
Assistance with year-end inventories and all of the spreadsheet analysis that needs to be audited and tested; miscellaneous spreadsheet analysis; analysis and accounting for Bond related purchases; cash audits; charge calculations; completing the process of purging and setting up all recurring journal entries; assistance with analysis related to annual external audit; assistance in the testing and set up of cash/AR projects in Lawson; assisting Physician Compensation with compensation letter verification and new hire processing; providing analysis for the system, individual entities, and competitors for management review; assisting with Bond and Cash Management daily activities; auditing financial statement footnotes related to cash and investments, debt, and leases; preparing Dashboards for management meetings and review; reporting/analyzing statistical calculations for both the system and competitors; supporting financial staff in analysis and daily work as well as support ad hoc requests and perform task in conjunction with senior analysts; assistance with scanning projects and providing guidance for scanning uniformity and auditing; participating in the summer Internship Learning Program; presenting to Financial Management on the experiences gained from an internship with Geisinger. The intern will also gain an understanding of RVU's (labor and supplies).
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
This position requires a detail-oriented individual with multi-tasking abilities who can work independently and as a team member.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Access/Word) is preferred.
EDUCATION AND/OR
Experience:
Open to business administration, accounting, finance or health policy & administration majors who have completed at least two years (75 credits) of full-time academic study.
Candidates should have completed 4 core courses in accounting, finance or related field.
Relevant experience may be substituted based on approval by Finance Management.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
